A 2007 film by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda reflects on the Katyn Massacre, a mass execution of Polish soldiers by the Russian Red Army in 1940, and will be included when Wajda is honored at New York’s Film Society at Lincoln Center with a retrospective of his many movies. Wajda is known as Poland’s foremost filmmaker, a man with an extensive oeuvre and deep sensibilities, he has long been considered to directly express the struggle, joy, and perseverance of the Polish people.
